Battista's  facade adorned with the sign of the Rucellai.  The boys present their research about the Dominican Basilica, with its famous reverse volutes and classical design features to their classmates on the outside, and Masaccio's frescoed 'Holy Trinity', Giotto's crucifix, and the Ghirlandaio frescoes inside. 

While some visited the cloistered cells of the monks with their beautiful frescoed walls of the monastery, others drew in the  courtyard. 

In the Piazza the boys examine and sketch  Brunelleschi's spectacular facade with Della Rubio's bambini encircled under the instruction of their peers. 

Waiting, while we negotiate for entry to S. Marco--it's the Italian way. Nice morning. Cool. Broken clouds. Partial sun.  After visiting the cloister and the convent, we'll be attending mass then off to lunch. Our focus at S. Marco: Fra Angelico.

Famished and ready for dinner, the boys work on their journals, documenting another memorable day with the bones of St. Francis, the hills of Umbria and crossing the Arno via the Ponte Vecchio. They are working so hard!
